Overview

Accessibility Adviser role at Edith Cowan University (ECU).

Location: Joondalup Campus. Employment type: Full-time or Part-time (60% to 100%), ongoing or 12-month fixed-term. Open to candidates with relevant work rights.

About The Opportunity

ECU is seeking a student-focused Accessibility Adviser to join Access and Inclusion. This position works with students and staff across ECU Schools and service centres to implement personalised academic adjustments and promote equitable academic success and inclusive practice.

The Role

Responsibilities include:

  • Work with students with disability, medical or mental health conditions, neurodivergence, or carers to ensure equitable access to education.
  • Meet with students regularly and, under broad direction and in alignment with policies and legislation, determine recommended adjustments and supports.
  • Develop individualised Learning Access Plans and collaborate with staff on implementation.
  • Contribute to group/cohort programs to enhance student success and promote inclusive practice and universal design principles across the student lifecycle.
  • Maintain timely, accurate records using administrative systems and stay informed about current best practice in equity and disability fields.
  • Monitor compliance with equal opportunity legislation in the provision of services to students.
About You (Qualifications and Experience)
  • Tertiary qualification in health sciences, social work, disability, or related field, or equivalent combination of experience and education/training.
  • Ability to deliver high-quality, specialist support to individuals and resolve complex problems through information analysis.
  • Knowledge of relevant legislation, policies, processes, and guidelines related to equity, diversity, disability, and equal opportunity.
  • Strong organisational skills with the ability to coordinate multiple processes, prioritise tasks, and meet deadlines.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills across diverse groups and the ability to build positive working relationships.
  • Ability to influence decisions and collaborate effectively.

Desirable: Relevant experience in the higher education sector and knowledge of academic environments. Willingness to travel between campuses. Personal attributes aligned with ECU values: Integrity, Respect, Rational Inquiry, Personal Excellence and Courage.
