About the RoleThe Cafe Assistant plays a vital role in supporting the daily operations of our brand-new café at Glynde on a permanent part-time basis (Saturday – Tuesday, 25 hours per week). You will work collaboratively with the Hotel Services team to provide consumer-centered, quality-focused services. This position is responsible for assisting with the preparation and delivery of high-quality food and beverages that meet the dietary needs and preferences of residents and visitors. The Café Assistant ensures a welcoming and safe environment, strong barista skills, light cooking, adherence to food safety regulations, and a positive dining experience.
Key Responsibilities- Preparation of menu items including light cooking, serving meals, coffee making and maintaining cleanliness and hygiene within the café.
- Engage with consumers, provide excellent customer service, and assist with special events or catering requests when required, including evenings.
- Support the café supervisor in a second-in-charge capacity to ensure smooth operation of services.
- Contribute to the overall well-being and satisfaction of residents, ensuring every dining experience meets service standards.
The ideal candidate is friendly, reliable, and has experience in a café or hospitality environment. They ideally hold a Certificate III or IV in Hospitality, along with current Food Safety and RSA certifications. They should be confident using commercial kitchen equipment, preparing and serving food and beverages, and operating a POS system. Excellent customer service, a strong work ethic, and the ability to work independently and in a team are essential. A safety-conscious, well-organised, and fast-paced environment capable candidate with a genuine interest in supporting older adults is key. Flexibility to work evenings and across multiple sites is required.
Candidates may be subject to a pre-employment medical assessment with the successful candidate requiring current NDIS worker clearance and RSA.
