Sydney, New South Wales, Australia Rippling Full time

Rippling gives businesses one place to run HR, IT, and Finance. It brings together all of the workforce systems that are normally scattered across a company, like payroll, expenses, benefits, and computers. For the first time ever, you can manage and automate every part of the employee lifecycle in a single system.

Take onboarding, for example. With Rippling, you can hire a new employee anywhere in the world and set up their payroll, corporate card, computer, benefits, and even third-party apps like Slack and Microsoft 365—all within 90 seconds.

Based in San Francisco, CA, Rippling has raised $1.85B from the world's top investors—including Kleiner Perkins, Founders Fund, Sequoia, Bedrock, and Greenoaks—and was named one of America's best startup employers by Forbes (#12 out of 500)

We prioritise candidate safety. Please be aware that official communication will only be sent from addresses.

About the role

After becoming one of the fastest-growing startups in the United States ($0 → $13.5B), Rippling is now growing internationally. We need to hire regional Payroll & HR experts to contribute to our international support strategy.

We're looking for a AU Payroll Subject Matter Expert to enable high quality support for our international customer base. This role will be aligned to a country and will have a broad scope of responsibilities to ensure the support interactions for that country are exceptional (i.e. high CSAT). The role will ensure the support org is up-skilled around country-specific product behaviours, play a key role in giving feedback to the product org on local customer sentiment, and will step into highly escalated customer interactions as a regional expert.

The position is based in our Sydney head office on a hybrid basis - 3 days in office, 2 days WFH

What will you do?

  • Become a product expert over our Global Payroll (and other HR) capabilities for Australian customers
  • Create content and documentation to cover the existing product behaviour, update for changes and build FAQs to support internal enablement
  • Analyse support interactions to build a POV on the quality of the support interactions
  • Interface with the country Product Manager to share support volume trends, drivers of bad customer interactions, and compliance issues
  • Act as a resource to Customer Support Specialists on regionally nuanced interactions for your country of expertise
  • Step into escalated customer interactions to resolve issues by leveraging platform and industry expertise

Required qualifications

  • 5+ years of hands-on payroll experience in Australia and New Zealand, preferably in a payroll provider, HR software company, or in-house payroll function (e.g., SAP, ADP, Workday, or similar).
  • Deep knowledge of Australian and New Zealand payroll regulations, including PAYG tax, Superannuation contributions, KiwiSaver and other statutory requirements.
  • Strong understanding of payroll processing, wage components, statutory deductions, and compliance reporting.
  • Experience with payroll compliance audits and handling payroll-related inquiries from regulatory authorities (e.g., ATO, Fair Work Ombudsman, Superannuation funds).
  • Ability to interpret and apply Australian labor laws related to payroll, including Fair Work Act provisions on salary payments, overtime, leave entitlements, and redundancy benefits.
  • Strong client-facing skills with experience managing enterprise client relationships.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to troubleshoot payroll discrepancies.
  • Fluency in English
