Hobart, Tasmania, Australia MAF International Full time
Overview

Join to apply for the Facilities Manager - Arnhem Land role at MAF International.

Mission Aviation Fellowship (MAF) is an organisation using light aircraft to deliver help, hope and healing through aviation in over 30 developing countries. For more than 75 years, MAF has transported patients, relief workers, produce and medical supplies to remote regions. One of these places is Arnhem Land, a vast wilderness area in the Northern Territory of Australia. MAF has served Arnhem Land for over 45 years by sharing God's love through aviation and technology. To continue enabling our service in Arnhem Land we require an experienced Facilities Manager.

Do you love making things work smoothly, fixing what's broken, and keeping everything in top shape? Do you have a knack for organizing people, projects, and the occasional toolbox? This role could be your next adventure.

Note: Applicants must have the legal right to work in Australia. Successful applicants will be subject to pre-employment background checks including a National Criminal History check. Acceptance of and adherence to MAF's purpose, vision and values is an essential condition of employment.

  • Coordinating maintenance across 20 houses and 2 hangars.
  • Looking after all MAF office spaces and work areas.
  • Managing vehicles (except aircraft) to keep them road-ready and reliable.
  • Overseeing contractors, volunteers, and the occasional enthusiastic DIYer.
  • Ensuring everything meets safety standards and local regulations.
What You'll Bring
  • A practical head for maintenance and a heart for people.
  • Organisational skills—budget, project, and priority management.
  • Ability to lead others, whether staff, volunteers, or contractors.
  • A commitment to doing things well because excellence matters.
Qualifications, Skills & Experience
  • A building trade qualification and current licences.
  • At least 3 years' experience in your licensed building trade.
  • At least 2 years of building project management experience.
  • Cross-cultural experience, with a heart for serving in diverse settings.
  • Willingness to travel and temporarily live in Aboriginal communities, engaging with respect and sensitivity toward Aboriginal culture.

This role is also about being part of the MAF family. You'll join in prayer times, support and encourage teammates, and live out your faith through service.

Why this role?

You'll be more than a Facilities Manager. You'll help MAF keep its mission moving—safe homes, working vehicles, and solid hangars mean safe flights and thriving communities.
