Board Director,
Volunteering Victoria enables organisations and individuals to meet community needs through volunteering. We are seeking expressions of interest from experienced and committed individuals to join our Board as a Volunteer Director. This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to the strategic governance of a values-driven organisation at a pivotal time of growth and transformation for the organisation and for volunteering across Victoria in many different sectors and fields.
Nearly two thirds of Victorians volunteer regularly and to represent the interests of such a significant portion of Victoria as a peak body is a deep privilege and something that is held as a significant responsibility by current Directors.
We are building the strength and sustainability of volunteering by shaping the operating and policy environment, striving to make volunteering appealing and accessible to all, supporting and connecting those who lead volunteers, and elevating the value and recognition of volunteering.
Our evolving board focuses on developing a high performing, strategically aligned board composed of professional directors who bring strong governance capability, strategic thinking, diverse experience, relevant qualifications, and a commitment to ethical, inclusive, and impartial governance.
We actively seek candidates who reflect the diversity of the communities we serve and welcome applications from people of all backgrounds and identities. In particular, we encourage expressions of interest from First Australians, people from culturally and linguistically diverse communities, people living with disability or disadvantage, and other priority groups across Victoria.
Key Responsibilities- Provide strategic oversight and governance of Volunteering Victoria's operations and impact

- Appropriate qualifications or equivalent experience in governance, leadership, finance, law, policy, or related fields, with AICD or ICDA qualifications highly preferred
- Strategic insight into the not-for-profit, community, or other volunteering sectors
- Ability to think critically, ask the right questions, and engage collaboratively
- A values-aligned approach to leadership and decision-making
- A commitment to Volunteering and Volunteers, equity, inclusion, and cultural safety
- Attendance at regular board meetings (approximately 9-10 per year, depending on workflow)

Please submit your Expression of Interest including:
- A brief cover letter outlining your interest and alignment with the role, including how your personal experience and skills will deliver against the items listed under the Evolving Board section above
- A current CV highlighting relevant governance experience and qualifications
The Board will consider the Expressions of Interest and assess candidates against the criteria listed here and make appropriate recommendations to members for Election at the Annual General Meeting of members.
