About the Role

As a Level 4 Terminal Operator, your primary role is as a locomotive shunt driver within the yard precinct. Additionally, you are responsible for the coordination, planning, efficient assembly, and dismantling of trains within the terminal, as well as forklift driving to support the operation. You will be required to operate the locomotive and complete shunting activities within the yard.

You will also be responsible for adhering to all safe working principles and procedures, including locomotive driving, processing freight and operating documentation into a computerised system, undertaking train examinations, and brake testing activities, whilst strictly following safe-working and operating procedures.

24/7 shift work is required as part of the role.

About You

To be successful in this role, you will be a team player who thinks ahead and enjoys a challenge. This role requires a responsible and accountable individual who will efficiently and safely undertake all locomotive, forklift, and shunting activities.

Ideally, you will have:

  • Relevant locomotive and shunt driver qualifications
  • Heavy forklift licence
  • CV High Risk Licence
  • Full Driver's licence
  • General computer proficiency
  • Experience in train inspection, ground shunt, and trackside safety (preferred)
  • Shunt driver qualifications
  • Previous experience in logistics, transport, or the rail industry (preferred)
