The OpportunityWe\'re on the lookout for a dynamic and future-focussed Environmental Planning Consultant to join Urbis. This role sits within a specialised team located in Sydney within the National Planning Business Unit that is expanding its capacity in renewable energy and sustainable planning. Leveraging your technical expertise and proven skills, you\'ll support our clients by offering innovative advice and insights. This role requires someone who is passionate about environmental planning and the energy sector with a primary focus in NSW, however you may be called on to assist on projects with a national focus.
You will:- Provide a range of services advising on renewable energy, including development capability, due diligence, and planning approval process.
- Assist in the preparation of planning applications and post approval activities, including preparation of Environmental Impact Statements, Statement of Environmental Effects, and Environmental Management Strategies for energy projects.
- Support the team in preparing sustainability strategies and advice to clients across various sectors, including infill, new communities and industrial development.
- Develop client relationships by building trust, providing quality advice and managing expectations.
- Assist with writing submissions, proposals and advice that accurately reflects the client\'s needs.
- Manage small to medium size projects, including scoping and costing of projects, tracking job costs and coordinating consultants and sub-consultants, when necessary.
- Identify and raise issues which may impact fee estimates and/or project delivery timelines.
- Contribute to the development and implementation of quality assurance and the Planning team\'s Business Plan.
- Work alongside other professionals on a range of multi-disciplinary projects, working to specification, to deadlines, within budget and with a commercial outcome.
- Holds a tertiary qualification in Town Planning, Environmental Science, or related discipline.
- Ideally a minimum of 2 years\' experience within the Town Planning industry, with preferred experience in the renewable energy and sustainability sector;
- Alternatively, capability in environmental impact assessment and state significant development in other sectors in NSW and now looking to transition to the energy sector.
- Demonstrated appreciation and understanding of the application of sustainability and resilience principles in the delivery of projects and places.
- Proficient appreciation and understanding of impacts and issues affecting the natural and built environment alongside a strong understanding of strategic policies, processes and influences.
- Proficient capability in written and verbal communications and engagement with a variety of stakeholders.
- Influences outcomes through proactive, informed and decisive communication.
- Successfully manages client priorities and expectations.
- Positively challenges existing practices and/or viewpoints to achieve the best outcome.
- Coaches and mentors individuals within the team.
- Prioritises and manages the competing demands of multiple assignments and/ or projects within agreed timeframes and budget.
