Overview

Lake Windemere B-6 Para Vista Primary School | Temporary GSE4 Groundsperson role at Department for Education, South Australia. The position is based at two sites: Lake Windemere B-6 School and Para Vista Primary School, both located in the Salisbury North suburb and maintained grounds for students to enjoy daily.

The Grounds Person supports day-to-day management of school grounds and buildings and reports to the Business Manager. The role is currently 3 days at Lake Windemere and 2 days at Para Vista.

Responsibilities
  • Develop and maintain outdoor areas of the school, including gardens, trees, natural play/learning spaces and sports fields (including layout and line marking as required).
  • Manage effective and efficient irrigation and watering systems across the school and children's centre.
  • Remove litter and hazards from around the site, including broken tree limbs and broken furniture.
  • Perform general handyperson tasks such as replacing and repairing locks and other door furniture, repair damaged furniture/fittings and flyscreens, removing graffiti and assembling/adjusting simple furniture.
Qualifications and Experience
  • Demonstrated ability to coordinate and develop school grounds and facilities with limited supervision and direction.
  • Experience in maintaining a safe and engaging grounds and facilities environment and the use of grounds tools and machinery while ensuring WHS obligations are met.
  • Experience with horticultural requirements, irrigation maintenance, and appropriate use of chemicals and fertilisers.
  • A driver's license is essential for this position.
