Independent Member Audit & Risk Committee

Hobsons Bay City Council invites applications from suitably qualified persons to join its Audit and Risk Committee as an Independent Member.

The Committee is an advisory body providing independent assurance and assistance in financial reporting, audit, internal control effectiveness, risk management, and regulatory compliance. It aims to ensure confidence in these practices.

Membership includes two Councillors and three independent members, with one appointed as Chair by the Council.

Independent members should be members of CPA Australia, the Institute of Chartered Accountants, or the Institute of Internal Auditors, with experience in financial management, risk, public sector management, and governance.

The appointment is for three years, renewable once.

The Committee meets four times annually.

Role

Applicants should submit their CV and a one-page statement addressing the key criteria:

  • Relevant qualifications and experience
  • Experience leading internal audit and risk in complex regulatory environments
  • Experience in similar Audit Committee or Board roles
  • Understanding of governance and compliance challenges in Victorian Local Government

All members must adhere to the Council's Code of Conduct.
