About the Practice

• This charming independent optician opened its doors in Caversham in February 2025, expanding from its well-established sister practice. Known for its warm, community-driven ethos, the practice delivers a high standard of personalised care and a relaxed, welcoming atmosphere.
• The practice is currently doing eye tests 2-3 days a week, due to the practice still building its presence and going through its infancy, however they are looking to build and develop this over time.
• The practice typically sees strong sales performance, often achieving 3,000+ per day on busy testing days and an average order value of 350- 600.
• On non-testing days, staff play a key role in maintaining the practice's inviting environment and ensuring smooth daily operations.

About the Role

We're looking for a mature, self-motivated, and bubbly Optical Assistant who thrives on giving excellent customer care and can confidently manage the practice when needed.

Your key responsibilities will include:

• Welcoming patients and explaining the eye examination process
• Supporting the Optometrist with smooth patient handovers
• Dispensing to all levels, frame styling and building rapport with patients
• Managing the practice on non-testing days, ensuring it remains tidy and organised
• Taking initiative to stay productive during quieter periods

• Friendly, engaging, and confident with people from all walks of life
• Organised and able to take ownership of their day-to-day tasks
• Comfortable working independently and making the practice feel like their own
• Passionate about patient care with a natural flair for sales and communication
• Experience in an optical setting is essential, and this role would particularly suit someone who enjoys autonomy and is keen to grow with the business.

Salary & Benefits

Salary up to 27,000 depending on experience
37.5 hours per week
o Weekdays: 9:30am – 5:00pm
o Saturdays: 10:00am – 5:00pm
Potential for future progression into a management role
