Overview

Clinical Funding Officers – Broken Hill at Southern Cross Care Queensland. We have two roles: a full-time Clinical Funding Officer to work across St Anne's and Harold William Residential Aged Care Homes, and a second part-time role at Aruma Lodge with a guaranteed minimum of 30 hours per fortnight.

Join a supportive and friendly team working to make a real difference for residents and colleagues. This role provides site-specific Clinical Funding support for Australian National Aged Care Classifications (AN-ACC) with support from the SCCQ Clinical Funding team.

Responsibilities
  • Liaise with carers and clinical staff to ensure resident care needs and time spent are accurately documented to support funding classifications and staffing reflective of residents' needs.
  • Assist and support staff to access resources and knowledge of funding systems and escalate concerns to the Clinical Manager as needed.
  • Upskill Residential Aged Care staff in the funding process by delivering training sessions (e.g., RN/EN/PCW/Lifestyle Assistants and Pastoral Carers) as scheduled by CM/FM.
  • Provide ongoing education through toolbox sessions and integrate into induction programs for new employees.
  • Participate in monitoring resident conditions, clinical meetings, handovers, and related meetings to identify potential reclassifications; attend HODs meetings and review relevant information to identify changes needing screening.
  • Assist with monitoring and tracking resident data including movements, Medicare events, and AN-ACC lodgments; support admission processes including pre-screening and care plan development.
  • Review assessments and care plans to ensure alignment with residents' needs and AN-ACC classification, including pre-admission, new admission, and reclassification screening.
  • Deliver high-quality documentation, reporting, and tracking; monitor occupancy, entries, and departures.
  • Complete required forms and data to support forecasted classifications and comments; complete allocated KPIs for resident screening and reclassification each week to support site KPIs for PRPD.
  • Engage with internal stakeholders, attend HODs and AN-ACC meetings, and communicate effectively with the Clinical Funding Manager.
  • Perform analysis, data collection, and reporting for AMO visits; prepare staff for interviews and ensure access to required systems for review.

Note: For Registered Nurses in the part-time role, there may be opportunities to pick up extra nursing shifts.

Qualifications and experience
  • Experience in a care or clinical role within a Residential Aged Care Facility
  • Knowledge of AN-ACC tools, AN-ACC funding guide, and related processes in a Residential Aged Care Facility
  • Ability to quickly learn various software systems and Microsoft Office suite
  • Ability to work as part of a team with minimal supervision
  • Attention to detail and strong customer service ethic
  • Strong written and oral communication skills
