The office of Senator Kerrynne Liddle invites applications for the full-time ongoing position of Office Manager based in the Senator's office in Adelaide, South Australia.

Position Overview

The successful candidate will be responsible for managing and ensuring the efficient functioning of the electorate office and the Senator's diary, related to parliamentary, portfolio, and public demands.

The applicant should be highly motivated, capable of handling a high volume of material related to compliance, processes, rules, standards, and regulations, and able to respond to changing and competing priorities effectively.

Key duties include, but are not limited to:

  1. Managing the Senator's diary (sitting weeks, committees, stakeholders, etc.).
  2. Booking travel arrangements for the Senator and Portfolio Leads, including flights, accommodation, hire cars, and COMCARS.
  3. Preparing agendas and itineraries for meetings and events.
  4. Processing PEMS, travel, and related claims.
  5. Monitoring budget, expenditure, and compliance with parliamentary approvals, engaging with the Department of Finance as needed.
  6. Managing the public email inbox, triaging, and responding to follow-up items.
  7. Filing and maintaining records, reconciling electorate expenses.
  8. Ordering printing and stationery supplies.
  9. Managing the stakeholder database.
  10. Coordinating mailouts and external communications with stakeholders and constituents.
  11. Reporting maintenance and lease issues to the Department of Finance and liaising with landlords on minor matters.
  12. Maintaining confidentiality and security of files, documents, and office activities.
  13. Ensuring a safe, respectful, and clean workspace in compliance with work health and safety laws and policies.
  14. Overseeing daily office functions, including handling incoming calls and walk-ins.
  15. Performing other duties necessary for the office's efficient operation.

The ideal applicant:

  • Is self-motivated, able to work under pressure, meet tight deadlines, and work independently.
  • Possesses strong verbal and written communication skills and exceptional attention to detail.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and relevant office software.
  • Has experience or qualifications in administration; interest in current affairs and the Federal Parliament is desirable.

Employment conditions:

The position is governed by the Members of Parliament (Staff) Act 1984 and the Commonwealth Members of Parliament Staff Enterprise Agreement , which include:

  • A starting salary between $76,910 and $89,793, negotiable based on experience and skills.
  • An additional electorate staff allowance may be applicable for extra hours worked.
  • Relocation assistance, study support, and paid study leave may be available (subject to eligibility).
  • Superannuation contribution of 15.4%.

  • A probation period of three months, possibly extendable.
  • Requirement to undergo a National Police History Check.
  • Potential automatic cessation triggers under Section 14 of the MOP(S) Act.
