Overview

This role is within the Out of Home Care (OOHC) division, based in the Southern residential care program, and reports to the Residential Coordinator. The position provides case management support for children and young people with high and complex needs through a therapeutically oriented program in protective placements.

Responsibilities
  • Provide case management within a therapeutic and trauma-informed model of care.
  • Supervise caregivers and conduct caregiver assessments.
  • Contribute to overall service development and uphold best practice in Occupational Health and Safety.
Role Details

Full-time fixed term (Parental Leave Cover) 38 hours per week, until 02 July 2026, with possible early cessation or extension. Based in Dandenong, VIC within the Southern Out of Home Care Program. Reports to the Residential Coordinator.

Key Selection Criteria / Qualifications
  • Knowledge and understanding of Aboriginal culture and values and awareness of issues faced by Aboriginal children, young people and their families.
  • Appropriate tertiary qualification in social work, community services or equivalent.
  • Sound professional knowledge of trauma, attachment and integrated trauma-informed practice.
  • Experience in child welfare practice and understanding of meeting children's developmental needs.
  • Knowledge of child safe principles and standards.
  • Professional casework skills including knowledge of LAC and CRISSP/CRIS.
  • Ability to work in a multi-disciplinary team setting.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with demonstrated ability to collaborate across diverse contexts.
Requirements
  • Valid and current Driver's Licence
  • Satisfactory Criminal History Check (paid by MacKillop)
  • Valid Employee Working with Children Check
  • Valid and current NDIS Workers Screening Check (for risk assessed / client facing roles). MacKillop can assist with applications.

  • Hourly Rate of $51 to $53.31 as outlined in the SCHADS Award Level 5, depending on qualification and experience.
