The Role

Due to recent growth in clients and repeat business opportunities, our Newcastle office is looking for a Civil Engineer with a passion for the Built Environment to join the Newcastle team. Our team delivers various types of technically challenging projects across urban renewal / development and municipal infrastructure (earthworks, storm water, sewer, water, pavements, and road design, among others). As part of our Civil team at Newcastle, you will play a key part in delivering various built form and urban development projects. Managing projects and delivery of engineering investigation, assessment, and design and construction management documentation across a range of sectors. Design of roads, bulk earthworks and drainage. Manage and communicate project requirements to sub-consultants, contractors, architects and developers. Multi-discipline project delivery by utilising a variety of civil design packages.

What we're looking for

We want you to take control of your career and successfully operate in a highly autonomous, yet supportive, environment with the following attributes:

  • Bachelor Degree in Civil Engineering
  • Demonstrated experience within a tier 1 and/or tier 2 engineering consultancy
  • Minimum 3 to 5 post-graduate years of experience as a competent consulting engineer
  • Experience in preparing detailed design and documentation of roads, intersections, pavements, earthworks, and stormwater drainage
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and tasks at the same time, whilst working autonomously
  • Understanding of local government regulatory frameworks and statutory compliance requirements
  • Working knowledge of civil design software such as 12D Model and/or Civil 3D
  • Competent and independent use of other civil modelling software such as DRAINS, MUSIC, HEC-RAS, Autoturn and AutoCAD
  • Organise and coordinate people and work in a decisive manner
  • Excellent communication skills - able to speak and write clearly, concisely, and compellingly
  • Creative problem-solving skills to continually find ways to overcome challenges and obstacles
  • Strong team ethic to work collaboratively across multiple offices
  • Handles interruptions, changes, and challenges
