Emergency Management Resilience Officer - Casual

Mitchell Shire Council invites applications for a casual Emergency Management Resilience Officer to support the Mitchell Shire Safer Communities Project. This project focuses on developing Community Emergency Management Plans and delivering resilience-building initiatives in high fire risk communities. The role is aligned with a community-led approach to understand needs and increase preparedness through engagement with community leaders and stakeholders.

About The Opportunity

The Mitchell Shire Safer Communities Project aims to better understand community preparedness, knowledge of emergency planning, and response capacity through engagement activities. Working groups of influential community leaders will be established to ensure community needs are properly understood. The role involves contributing to the development of Community Emergency Management Plans and delivery of resilience initiatives that are led by the community.

Responsibilities
  • Support the development of Community Emergency Management Plans.
  • Deliver resilience-building initiatives in high fire risk communities.
  • Engage with community groups, service providers and other stakeholders to understand needs and build partnerships.
  • Contribute to a community-led approach by participating in working groups with community leaders.
About You / Qualifications
  • Passion for Emergency Management and working with communities.
  • Understanding of emergency management preparedness with strong community engagement qualities.
  • Ability to build strong partnerships to deliver community-led emergency preparedness initiatives.
  • Experience or interest in developing Community Emergency Management Plans is desirable.
Remuneration and Conditions

Casual opportunity with hourly rate beginning at $57.94 (Band 6) plus superannuation.
