Job Description
Join the team redefining how the world experiences design. We're looking for a Creative Lead for Lifecycle who combines deep creative craft with performance, seeing every interaction as a chance to tell a meaningful story.
Where and how you can work: Our flagship campus is in Sydney, with campuses in Melbourne and co-working spaces in Brisbane, Perth and Adelaide. You can choose where and how you work—office, home, or a mix.
About the role: Reporting to the Executive Creative Director, you'll shape Canva's presence across the entire customer journey—from onboarding and feature education to re-engagement and loyalty. Your work will span high-volume email campaigns, in-app messaging, and other lifecycle touchpoints, crafted to inspire action and deepen engagement. You'll lead a cross-functional team of designers and copywriters, collaborating with marketing, product, data, and engineering partners.
What you'd be doing in this role- Own the creative development of Canva's lifecycle campaigns, from idea to execution
- Deliver bold, personalised campaigns across email, in-app, and beyond
- Balance imaginative thinking with data-driven precision to engage new and returning users
- Bring fresh creative approaches while scaling high-volume production
- Translate lifecycle marketing goals into clear briefs and standout creative
- Elevate Canva's brand across lifecycle channels
- Partner with stakeholders to shape strategy and drive creative consistency
- Lead, mentor, and inspire a multidisciplinary creative team
- Foster a safe, inclusive, and high-performing team culture
- Provide guidance and feedback to ensure creative excellence
- Bring Canva's brand identity to life through storytelling and craft
- Use narrative, design, and messaging to drive instant engagement
- Collaborate with data teams to test, learn, and optimize campaign performance
- Stay informed on trends and innovations across lifecycle and CRM channels
- 10+ years in creative leadership roles, with strong experience in lifecycle or CRM marketing
- Proven success creating effective, high-volume campaigns balancing brand and performance
- Experience managing and mentoring creative teams
- Deep understanding of customer journeys, audience segmentation, and personalisation
- Experience across channels including email, in-app, and push
- A strong portfolio showing excellence in lifecycle storytelling and creative craft
- Conceptual thinker who can execute at scale
- Ability to translate strategy and data into smart, creative ideas
- Empathetic leader who builds team culture and creative confidence
- Strong communicator and collaborator with both technical and non-technical teams
- Curious, adaptable, and energized by fast-paced environments
- Experience in SaaS, tech, or growth-focused digital brands
- Familiarity with global markets and tailoring creative by region
- Award-winning lifecycle work or creative recognised for performance impact
