
Works Programmer

We are currently recruiting aWorks Programmerto join our Operations, People and Safety division. This role reports to the Operational Services Manager and plays a key role in planning and scheduling field operations across Essential Energy's network. This role has a preferred location of Wagga, however, anywhere within operational footprint will also be considered.
The Works Programmer is responsible for developing feasible resource plans and works schedules over a 3-month rolling horizon. This role ensures optimal utilisation of field crews and equipment while maintaining compliance with safety and operational standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain detailed forecasts and schedules for field works
- Collaborate with Operational Services Manager, Field Manager & Essential Energy Stakeholders to prioritise projects and maximise resource utilisation
- Conduct scenario modelling to manage demand variations and crew availability
- Allocate tasks using Essential Energy's field scheduling application
- Ensure job readiness including resources, materials, and outage coordination
- Monitor performance and adjust planning assumptions based on trends
- Provide out-of-hours scheduling support as required
- Promote safety, equity, diversity, and inclusion across all operations
About You
As a Works Programmer, you will bring strong analytical and planning skills, along with the ability to work collaboratively across teams. You will be experienced in resource forecasting and scheduling, and capable of managing competing priorities in a dynamic environment.
Required Qualifications/Skills
- Advanced Diploma in Business, IT or Program Management, or equivalent experience
- Driver's licence
- Experience in demand forecasting and resource planning
- Knowledge of works planning, scheduling, and project management
- Understanding of electrical distribution and network operations
- Strong data analysis and problem-solving skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and scheduling applications
- Excellent communication and time management skills
Desirable:
- Qualifications in Mathematics, Statistical Modelling, or Data Analysis
- Electrical Engineering qualifications or similar discipline
