Geosyntec has an exciting opportunity for a Hydrogeologist to join our Water Resources Team. We seek motivated professionals to support our strong and growing project pipeline.

At Geosyntec, you will have the opportunity to apply your academic and professional knowledge to the real world and Tier 1 energy and resource clients, at our offices located in Perth, Brisbane, Sydney or Melbourne.

Our Projects Include
  • Large Storage Facility Design – New, Existing, and Closure Life-cycle phases
  • Mine site infrastructure design and water management
  • Contaminated site groundwater management and remediation
  • Pumped hydroelectric projects
  • Mine dewatering assessments
  • Civil / construction dewatering assessments
  • Water balance studies
  • Environmental impact assessments and investigations
  • Site groundwater risk reviews and third-party groundwater reviews
Essential Duties And Responsibilities
  • Be involved in the design and/or execution of fieldwork programs including:
    • Drilling supervision and geotechnical logging
    • Soil testing and sampling
    • Groundwater monitoring and sampling
    • Groundwater well installation and hydraulic testing
  • Critical analysis and assessment of groundwater and geological related data
  • Geospatial and 3D analysis – including GIS and Leapfrog (3D modelling)
  • Conceptual assessment of groundwater flow, fate and transport
  • Quantitative groundwater assessments of flow, fate and transport using analytical as well as 2D and 3D numerical modelling tools – SEEPW, HYDRUS, MODFLOW, GoldSim
  • Preparing informative and interpretive maps, tables, and figures
  • Preparation of technical reports, letters, memoranda, plans, specifications, and proposals
  • Training: This position requires health and safety, first aid and other on-the-job training. We also offer professional development opportunities including in-house seminars, webinars, and mentoring, that allow our employees to build the technical and business skills necessary to become successful consultants. Further training to enhance skills on specialist software will also be provided e.g. Leapfrog, SEEPW, GIS, MODFLOW, etc.
Education and Licensure
  • Bachelor's degree in geology/earth science/geochemistry/hydrology or engineering or related field of study (required)
  • Post graduate MSc or similar in hydrogeology (preferred)
Skills, Experience And Qualifications
  • At least 2 of direct consulting experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience. (required). However, graduates can be considered if they possess post-graduate Hydrogeology qualifications.
  • 5 years of consulting experience. (preferred)
  • Experience with multi-disciplinary project teams. (preferred)
  • Demonstrated success in teamwork. (preferred)
  • Effective communication skills, both verbal and written. (required)
  • Ability to succeed in a fast-paced consulting environment, handling multiple project assignments, meeting deadlines and budgets, and traveling to client facilities as needed
Highly Regarded Skills & Experience
  • Post graduate MSc or similar in hydrogeology (highly preferred)
  • Strong GIS skills - ArcGIS, QGIS, or Surfer (preferred)
  • Strong data handling and manipulation skills, and data analysis (preferred)
  • Experience assisting with groundwater assessments and site conceptual model development (preferred)
  • Fieldwork experience – drilling supervision, logging, testing, sampling, monitoring (preferred)
  • Experience with Leapfrog, or other 3D volumetric modelling software (preferred)
  • Experience with 2D and/or 3D numerical flow models (preferred)
