Wynnum Community Place is seeking a compassionate and detail-oriented volunteer to support our No Interest Loans Scheme (NILs).

This program helps individuals on low incomes access safe, fair, and affordable credit to purchase essential items and services such as fridges, medical equipment, car repairs, and more.

As a NILs Volunteer Worker

  • Work one-on-one with clients to assess eligibility, support loan applications, and provide appropriate referrals and financial conversations.
  • Review loan applications and support clients through the application process.
  • Conduct client interviews in a respectful, non-judgmental way.
  • Provide referrals and financial conversations as needed.
  • Accurately enter client information into a database.
  • Contribute to monthly and six-monthly reports for the program.

Skills & experience:

  • A background in community services, teaching, counselling, social work, or financial literacy is helpful.
  • Strong communication and administrative skills.
  • Empathy, cultural awareness, and a non-judgmental attitude.
  • Willingness to learn and follow procedures and reporting protocols.
  • Comfortable using computers and working with client data.

Training provided:

All training is provided at Redland Community Centre in Capalaba. Ongoing support and guidance are available throughout your volunteering.

Commitment: Regular - more than 6 months

Time Required: Monday OR Thursday (½ to 1 full day per week, flexible based on availability)

Training: Onsite orientation and safety briefing provided, with ongoing team support throughout your time with us. Initial training will be delivered at Redland Community Centre in Capalaba, with the role based at Wynnum Community Place once training is complete.
