About The Role

Under the broad direction of the Manager of Clinical Services, the occupant will provide leadership, guidance and coordination to facilitate the provision of specialised clinical services that enhance assessment, rehabilitation and reintegration for young people. The incumbent will ensure that all clinical training is facilitated in accordance with all relevant legislative and educational requirements and individual plans.

This position will directly be responsible for and lead the provision of comprehensive, continuing and coordinated clinical services aimed at the reintegration of young people in detention into the community.

Period of Appointment

Ongoing - ASAP start date

Applicants should be aware that for twelve (12) months from the date of publication, this selection process may be used to fill any subsequent full-time or part-time vacancies in accordance with Employment Direction 1.

Hours per fortnight

76 hours per fortnight

Essential Requirements
  • Current Tasmanian Registration to Work with Vulnerable People (Registration Status – Employment)
  • The applicant must meet one of the following essential requirements:
    • Occupational Therapist:
      • Registered with the Occupational Therapy Board of Australia; or
    • Psychologist:
      • Registered with the Psychology Board of Australia; or
    • Speech Pathologist:
      • Tertiary qualification/program of study accredited by Speech Pathology Australia
      • Eligible for membership with the Speech Pathology Australia
    • The Head of the State Service has determined that the person nominated for this job is to satisfy a pre-employment check before taking up the appointment, on promotion or transfer. The following checks are to be conducted:
    1 Conviction Checks In The Following Areas
    • crimes of violence
    • sex related offences
    • serious drug offences
    • crimes involving dishonesty
    • serious traffic offences

    2 Identification check

    3 Disciplinary actions in previous employment check

    Desirable Requirements
    • Relevant clinical and/or professional experience directly applicable to the Youth Justice and/or Child Safety.
