About the service: The Medicare Mental Health Services are free and you do not need an appointment, referral or Medicare card to visit a Medicare Mental Health Centre. The new services in Devonport, Burnie and Outer Hobart are co-funded by the Australian and Tasmanian Governments, to provide a streamlined approach to support better mental health and social wellbeing across the country. The service is tailored to the needs of the community in Tasmania and provides a combination of peer-integrated recovery and clinical support. The Medicare Mental Health Centre provides a safe, welcoming and supportive environment for people experiencing psychological distress, allowing them to: * Identify alternatives to presenting to the Emergency Department * Access support from trained mental health professionals within their community, outside a clinical setting On Offer: * Based in Burnie, TAS * Permanent, full-time opportunity available * Paying on HPSS Level 3 (above award payment for highly experienced clinicians) plus Super * Salary Packaging options (up to $15,899 tax free) * Meals and entertainment allowance of up to $2,650 * Leave loading at 17.5% * Stride Rewards – access to discounts from 100s of retailers (fashion, food and fitness) * One paid wellbeing leave day per year * Purchase up to 5 additional leave days in a 12-month period (pro rata entitlement if part-time) * Paid parental leave support * Supportive team environment * Excellent training and career development Role overview: As part of the multidisciplinary team, the Clinician will provide focused psychological strategies tailored to meet the individual needs of people accessing the service within a community based mental health care setting. As well as working with relevant service systems to respond appropriately to their mental health and developmental needs. * Provide comprehensive assessment, brief and ongoing interventions, risk management and care planning * Work collaboratively across health service networks to plan and coordinate individualised psychosocial interventions to meet the needs of people with mental health issues based on a case formulation approach * Work cooperatively and effectively through active participation within the multidisciplinary mental health team, the profession specific network and with consumers, families/carers and extended agencies Requirements: * Must have one of the following: General AHPRA registration as a Psychologist, Clinical Psychologist, Mental Health Occupational Therapist OR Mental Health Nurse OR AASW registration as an Accredited Mental Health Social Worker * Demonstrated a comprehensive level of knowledge, expertise and skill; specifically, Brief Intervention Models of Care Commitment to professional development and willingness to participate in a continuous learning environment * Well-developed judgment and evaluation skills demonstrating a working understanding assessment and care planning * Sound understanding of the public, non-government and private mental health systems and programs and associated non-mental health programs in a community setting * Ideally demonstrated experience in providing alcohol and other drugs (AOD) counselling and support * Demonstrated interpersonal skills showing an ability and sensitivity to work with people who have or are at risk of developing a mental illness * Proven ability to work creatively, collaboratively and effectively as a member of a team * Demonstrated skills in organisation and time-management, including the ability to work under pressure and balance multiple tasks * Excellent verbal communication and writing skills * Must be eligible to apply/currently hold a WWCC * Must hold/be willing to apply for NDIS worker screening clearance Stride is committed to the safeguarding of children and vulnerable people.
