Community Mental Health Specialist

Our organization is dedicated to providing specialist mental health services to people with mental illness and complex needs. As a Community Mental Health Specialist, you will play a vital role in our multidisciplinary team, working with individuals and families to provide focused psychological strategies tailored to meet their unique needs.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide comprehensive assessment, brief and ongoing interventions, risk management and care planning
  • Work collaboratively across health service networks to plan and coordinate individualized psychosocial interventions to meet the needs of people with mental health issues based on a case formulation approach
  • Work cooperatively and effectively through active participation within the multidisciplinary mental health team, the profession-specific network and with consumers, families/carers and extended agencies

Requirements:

  • Must have one of the following: General AHPRA registration as a Psychologist, Clinical Psychologist, Mental Health Occupational Therapist or Mental Health Nurse; or AASW registration as an Accredited Mental Health Social Worker
  • Demonstrated a comprehensive level of knowledge, expertise and skill; specifically, Brief Intervention Models of Care
  • Commitment to professional development and willingness to participate in a continuous learning environment
  • Well-developed judgment and evaluation skills demonstrating a working understanding of assessment and care planning
  • Sound understanding of the public, non-government and private mental health systems and programs and associated non-mental health programs in a community setting
  • Ideally demonstrated experience in providing alcohol and other drugs (AOD) counselling and support
  • Demonstrated interpersonal skills showing an ability and sensitivity to work with people who have or are at risk of developing a mental illness
  • Proven ability to work creatively, collaboratively and effectively as a member of a team
  • Demonstrated skills in organisation and time-management, including the ability to work under pressure and balance multiple tasks
  • Excellent verbal communication and writing skills
  • Must be eligible to apply/currently hold a WWCC
  • Must hold/be willing to apply for NDIS worker screening clearance
