The CompanyBarclay Recruitment is proud to partner with one of the market leaders in the Mechanical Engineering and Fabrication sector in Brisbane. Our client has been in business for over 40 years and develops, manufactures, and supplies bespoke engineering solutions to the bulk material handling, chemical, food, infrastructure, manufacturing, mining, and minerals industries.
With a full work pipeline and due to internal promotion an opportunity now exists for an experienced and capable Mechanical Designer and Drafter to join their team of 130 dedicated staff at their facility close to the Port of Brisbane.
The RoleAs one of the mechanical drafters, you will be responsible for:
- Providing efficient design solutions for process and products
- Detailed design work ranging from small component design for large plant, machinery, equipment, structures, and vehicles
- Work on various project stages from R&D to design, fabrication drawings, and 3D models
- Liaising with clients and project managers to establish the scope of engineering activities
- Ensure Structural and Mechanical Designs are in accordance with Australian Standards
- Improvement and customization of existing designs according to customer needs
- Detailed design and drafting of process plant and mechanical equipment using Inventor
- Ability to produce concept designs through to detailed fabrication drawings
- Liaising with key players including design engineers, trades fabrication staff, project managers, and customers
To be successful in the role you will have the following knowledge, skills, and abilities:
- Demonstrable track record in a similar position
- Minimum five years of experience working as a Mechanical Designer in a related field
- Experience across multiple relevant industries
- Ability to work in a fast-paced dynamic environment
- High level of competency in Australian industry standards and codes
- Exemplary communication both written and verbal
- Proven ability to work autonomously
- Competent in Autodesk Inventor and AutoCAD
- Relevant qualification or experience in Mechanical or Structural Engineering
- A trade qualification or background would be an advantage
- Design experience with layout of plant and equipment
- Experience with process, material handling, food manufacturing, mineral processing, mining, chemical manufacturing, heavy vehicles
