The Role

As a Zseries Storage Engineer at Kyndryl, you will be responsible for leading, building, and supporting zSeries Storage hardware and software. You will solve complex problems, identify potential future issues across platforms and services, and work with some of our biggest clients, which are among the largest in the world.

This role involves managing client systems data, providing day-to-day solutions, ensuring security compliance, and prioritizing tickets to deliver optimal solutions.

This role will carry out activities such as:

1. Performing technical project management for large zSeries infrastructure deployment and upgrades.
2. Automating storage infrastructure to reduce manual interventions.
3. Testing new software and exploring new functionalities.
4. Consolidating and reducing infrastructure complexity.
5. Managing risks and costs.
6. Ensuring service quality targets are met.
7. Managing business stakeholders and vendor relationships.
8. Designing, configuring, testing, implementing, and supporting zSeries Storage hardware/software.

Required technical and professional expertise include:

• zSeries Storage Management/Engineering experience or equivalent.
• Experience working with vendors like IBM, DELL, Broadcom.
• Supporting or leading large infrastructure deployment projects.
• Supporting large-scale enterprise IT environments with change, incident, and problem management.
• Experience with Agile methodologies.
• Knowledge of security, audit, risk, and compliance in enterprise IT.

Personal skills include:

• Ability to work under pressure to deadlines.
• Strong work ethic and interpersonal skills.
• Effective communication with stakeholders.

Hardware skills include:

• IBM DS8K disk hardware, scripting, and HMC GUI familiarity.
• IBM Virtual tape solutions (TS7700, GRID).
• Disk replication protocols and SAN support.

Software skills include:

• IBM core technologies: z/OS, TSO, SDSF, JCL, IDCAMS, IWS.
• IBM storage solutions: DFHSM, DFDSS, ICKDSF, DFSMS, TDMF, GDPS, CSM.
• Broadcom (CA) tools and Tivoli Advanced Catalog Manager.

Additional optional skills include knowledge of zSeries programming, network technologies, data center migrations, automation tools like Ansible, scripting languages, and emerging technologies.
