Overview

Platinum Pacific Partners is partnering with Australia's leading M&A restructuring team in Sydney to appoint a new Vice President. The successful candidate will lead transactions end-to-end, including managing and mentoring a strong pool of Analysts and Associates. The role requires the ability to handle a wide range of responsibilities, including financial modelling, documentation, process management, and external stakeholder engagement. These capabilities should be backed by prior experience in a similar environment.

The team expects senior professionals to form independent views based on available information and run transactions autonomously. The client is highly regarded for their expertise across M&A, debt advisory, and restructuring, and works with leading global alternative investment funds active in special situations, offering high visibility and exposure in the market. The team is known for its strong culture and strategic approach, with a focus on sustainable work-life balance compared to many bulge bracket investment banks. As a global advisory firm, their integrated international network allows teams to draw on offshore expertise.

Responsibilities
  • Lead transactions end-to-end, including managing and mentoring Analysts and Associates.
  • Handle financial modelling, documentation, process management, and external stakeholder engagement.
  • Collaborate with a high-performing team in a non-hierarchical structure.
  • Engage with renowned special situations and turnaround private equity firms.
Qualifications and profile
  • We are seeking a seasoned Vice President, likely with 7–12 years of post-university professional experience.
  • Experience in at least two or three of the following areas:
  • M&A – exposure to general industrials preferred; candidates from natural resources also encouraged
  • Restructuring and/or insolvency advisory experience
  • Debt advisory or leveraged finance – open to outstanding candidates from this space

We also welcome interest from candidates currently in corporate or investment roles who are open to transitioning back into investment banking.
