Overview

Role Purpose

This is a hands-on, full-spectrum accounting role that will support both Performing Arts Education Pty Ltd and English Path Pty Ltd in Australia. The successful candidate will be responsible for all aspects of management accounting, including financial reporting, budgeting, reconciliations, and tax compliance. This role requires strong technical accounting knowledge, attention to detail, and the ability to operate independently while also liaising with Group-level functions such as audit and consolidation teams.

Responsibilities
  • Execute full month-end close process for both Australian entities.
  • Process all general ledger journals, including accruals, prepayments, payroll journals, and other adjustments.
  • Maintain an accurate and up-to-date trial balance.
  • Prepare and analyse monthly budget vs actual variance reports with meaningful commentary.
  • Perform detailed monthly balance sheet reconciliations, including intercompany balances.
  • Oversee BAS (Business Activity Statements) and tax compliance in line with ATO requirements.
  • Ensure accounting is compliant with local and group accounting standards.
  • Liaise with the Group audit team to support the statutory audit process.
  • Collaborate with operational teams to gather information for financial reporting and budgeting.
  • Assist in preparing internal financial statements and reports for local leadership and Group finance.
  • Support data entry, reconciliation, and financial data integrity across systems.
  • Maintain documentation of processes and controls in line with audit and compliance expectations.
Skills and Specifications
  • Strong understanding of management accounting principles and practices.
  • Excellent trial balance knowledge and ability to investigate and resolve discrepancies.
  • Skilled in preparing detailed variance analysis and financial reports.
  • Hands-on approach with comfort in both transactional and analytical tasks.
  • Familiarity with Unit4 ERP system (advantageous).
  • Highly organised with strong attention to detail.
  • Able to work independently and take ownership of the Australian finance function.
  • Effective stakeholder management and professional communication skills.
  • Problem-solving mindset with a focus on continuous improvement.
Educational Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related discipline (mandatory).
  • Fully qualified accountant (CA, CPA, ACCA, or equivalent).
  • Minimum 3–5 years of relevant experience in management accounting or financial reporting roles.
