Public Sector People have partnered with a local council in Sydney to recruit for a Communications Officer for an initial 6 month contract with the potential for extension.

The Opportunity

In this exciting contract role, you'll play a vital role in developing and implementing strategic communications plans. You'll be responsible for managing media enquiries, crafting engaging content for a variety of audiences, and ensuring clear and consistent messaging across all channels.

Here's What You'll Be Doing

  • Drafting high-quality media releases, press kits, and other communications materials
  • Managing media enquiries and fostering positive relationships with journalists
  • Developing and implementing engaging content for digital and traditional media platforms
  • Conceive, develop, implement and critically assess communications and marketing plans.
  • Proactively identifying and crafting stories that showcase the organisation's services and achievements
  • Contributing to the development and implementation of communication strategies
  • Liaising with internal stakeholders across various departments

Do yo have:
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with a proven ability to tailor your message to diverse audiences
  • Demonstrated experience in media relations and public relations
  • Experience working in local government
  • Experience developing and delivering communication campaigns across multiple channels, including digital and traditional media
  • Excellent organisational and project management skills, with the ability to prioritise tasks and meet deadlines efficiently
  • The ability to work independently while also collaborating effectively as part of a team
