The Role

Our Lenah Valley site in Hobart manufactures a range of more than 50 milk, milk-based and cream products, with all products made from fresh milk sourced directly from Tasmanian dairy farms. The site currently produces around 35 million litres of product every year, operating 6 days a week and employing around 50 people.

We have an excellent opportunity for a Maintenance Fitter to join our small, close-knit reliability team. This unique role is involved in all levels of mechanical maintenance tasks, including project work that will utilise your trade skills in a fully equipped maintenance workshop based on site.

Work with automated manufacturing equipment and become an integral part of reliability & continuous improvement projects in this rewarding and challenging role. Our facility is tidy, well maintained and we work well together as a team. If you have a safety and improvement mindset, we would like to hear from you.

This position works 12 hour shifts 3:30a.m - 3:30p.m and 5:30a.m - 5:30pm on a roster of 3 days on, 1 day off, 3 days on, 6 days off, and also have opportunity for overtime.

Responsibilities

  • Providing maintenance support and breakdown rectification to the site
  • Assist in the delivery of minor works and Capex projects on site
  • Help identify and support opportunities for improvement relating to reliability
  • Performing scheduled and ad-hoc safety checks as well as maintaining high standards in Safe Work Practices
  • Coach operators in front line basic problems solving and root cause analysis

About you

  • Certificate 3 or higher in Mechanical Engineering
  • Experience in manufacturing and /or preventative maintenance
  • Strong knowledge of various maintenance methods and the ability to investigate problems, determine and implement root cause corrections
  • A commitment to safety and safe systems of work
  • Effective and clear communication skills - ability to communicate effectively with lots of different people is a must
