The Park Maintenance Officer supports sustainable management and growth, ensuring communities thrive by promoting desirable living, working, and recreational spaces. This is achieved while balancing historic and cultural heritage with the natural environment.

The Park Maintenance Officer plays a vital role in the effective day-to-day management of Whiteman Park, contributing to public safety and community engagement. The position supports a wide range of operational activities to ensure the park remains a safe, well-maintained, and welcoming space for visitors and stakeholders.

We currently have 1 x permanent position available for immediate filling.

This is pool recruitment for permanent full-time and fixed-term full-time opportunities. The pool may be used to fill future similar positions within the Department and across the WA public sector in the next 12 months.

To be successful, you need to demonstrate:

  1. Experience in grounds maintenance within parks and reserves, including wildfire suppression and firefighting activities.
  2. Ability to promote and support the vision of Whiteman Park, ensuring alignment with stakeholder expectations and community values through effective communication and engagement.
  3. Understanding of public sector governance requirements, including relevant legislation, policies, and procedures.
  4. Behaviours aligned with Personal Leadership, as outlined in the leadership context.

Special Requirements:

  • Baseline hearing test within three months of employment, then every two years.
  • Valid Western Australian Working with Children Check.
  • Willingness to obtain a Provide First Aid Certificate.
  • Willingness to obtain a recognised bush firefighter's certificate.
  • Current C class driver's licence.
  • Availability to work a fortnightly roster outside normal hours, including shifts in various weather conditions, with remuneration in accordance with the Public Sector (CSA).
