This leading energy infrastructure provider plays a significant role in powering communities and industry nationwide. They are a key player in energy transition for the renewables sector and have a focus on sustainability and reliability. This is coupled with their strong growth agenda as they look to greatly assist with Australia's decarbonization programme.

About the role

Due to an ever increasing portfolio of work, they are currently looking for a talented, senior legal counsel to step into a newly created opportunity. You will work on high impact projects in a role which will challenge your legal and commercial acumen whilst you partner closely with the business.

You will

• Lead the drafting, negotiation and management of complex, long-term commercial agreements including build-own-operate (BOO) contracts with major clients, connections and services
• Provide essential legal support for the development, structuring, and delivery of energy connection and storage infrastructure projects, covering project finance, risk allocation and regulatory compliance
• Offer expert advice on the commercial application of legislation (NEM) and market participation agreements, navigating the energy regulatory landscape
• Identify, assess and mitigate legal and commercial risks across projects and partnerships within a dynamic market environment.

About you

This role will suit someone who is looking to move in-house or already working in-house and already gained good exposure to the energy sector.

The successful individual will possess:

• Minimum of 8 years PQE
• Experience in connection agreements, regulatory matters
• Superior communication, influencing and negotiation skills
• Proactive, solution focussed and pragmatic mindset
• Comfortable working in fast-paced, cross-functional environments
