Overview

Mechanic position at the City of Rockingham – Careers at Council. Permanent, full-time (average of 38 hours per week). On-Call roster applies.

Responsibilities
  • Carry out servicing, maintenance, and repairs to the City's fleet of vehicles, plant, and equipment to ensure safe, reliable, and compliant operations.
  • Collaborate across the organisation to minimise downtime and support frontline service delivery.
  • Provide operators with guidance on appropriate daily maintenance procedures for plant and equipment in a workshop environment.
  • Repair and diagnose petrol and diesel engines, transmissions, brakes, and exhaust systems.
  • Maintain a variety of equipment, including small handheld plant, and keep accurate service records.
  • Report on service history and ensure equipment is used appropriately.
Selection Criteria / Qualifications
  • Self-motivated with the ability to work in a team or independently under direction.
  • Knowledge of current mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical systems.
  • Ability to diagnose faults, source solutions, and complete accurate service documentation.
  • Strong commitment to safety, compliance, and environmental standards.
  • Demonstrated interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Trade qualification – Certificate III in Heavy Commercial Vehicle Mechanical Technology (or equivalent).
  • Current HR-A class driver's licence.
  • Construction Induction Training Card (White Card).
Benefits and Remuneration
  • Gross wage of $2,014 per week (incorporates all allowances and penalty rates).
  • 12% superannuation with the option to co-contribute up to a further 5%.
