Responsibilities
- Support a working husky ranch by caring for Siberian Huskies and helping with training and maintenance.
- Try dog mushing and gain insight into sled dog racing and off-grid ranch life.
- Explore the Highlands through seasonal activities like sledding, hiking, kayaking, and more.
- Live sustainably and adventurously in a remote setting alongside experienced animal trainers.
Qualifications
- Seniority level: Entry level
- Physically demanding outdoor work; able to handle challenging outdoor conditions
- Interest in animal care, training, and off-grid living
Introduction / About the project
Experience off-grid living and the raw beauty of the Scottish Highlands through the Husky Ranch Scotland project. Run by an experienced team, including a board member of the World Sleddog Association, the ranch trains sled dogs for both snow and dryland racing and offers husky rides to the public. As a volunteer, you'll assist with daily dog care, training, and ranch maintenance, gaining hands-on insight into the life of a working husky kennel.
Winter features dog sledding, while summer offers hiking, mountain biking, and kayaking in the surrounding wilderness.
Minimum stay
The minimum stay is 4 weeks.
