Export Finance Australia (EFA) is Australia's export credit agency.

We provide finance to support Australian export trade and overseas infrastructure development across the Pacific and Indo-Pacific. Through our loans, bonds and guarantees, we support businesses – from small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) to large corporates – foreign governments and infrastructure projects, to take on the world.

We are growing year on year and due to the increase in the number of transactions being undertaken and the complexity of some of those transactions we are seeking to add 2 Senior Legal Counsels to the Legal team.

THE ROLES

Senior Legal Counsel, Business Partner - Business Financing, Small Business and Partnerships – Sydney

This permanent role provides expert, commercially attuned and proactive legal advice and guidance to each EFA Business Team in relation to their financing transactions. The role will serve as a trusted advisor and partner to the Business Financing, Small Business Lending and Partnerships teams, providing expert solution-orientated legal advice and guidance that enables each of those teams to deliver on their strategic and operational objectives.

Reporting to the Deputy General Counsel you will play a strong leadership and management role within the team as well as providing hands-on transactional support. At least 15 years' PQE in-house experience in a large financial institution/corporate or top/mid-tier law firm in banking and finance.

Senior Legal Counsel – Strategic Transactions – Sydney

This permanent is a senior legal role responsible for providing expert legal advice and guidance in relation to highly complex, strategic and/or novel financing transactions proposed to be undertaken by EFA including equity investments. Reporting to the Special Counsel, Strategic Transactions you will provide expert legal advise however you will also assist with full transactional support as well as mentoring and guiding more junior team members.

You will have at least 8 years' PQE in-house experience in an investment fund/large financial institution or top/mid-tier law firm in private equity, funds finance and/or mergers and acquisitions. Your experience will also ideally include exposure to equity and cross-border investment transactions and/or funds financing.

ABOUT YOU

• Candidates will have excellent communication and presentation skills as well as experienced in managing multiple and in some cases cross-border stakeholders.
• Proven leadership experience in relation to the Business Partner position are a must.
• Excellent technical legal skills, including drafting, negotiation and analytical skills, with keen attention to detail.
• Ability to work independently, manage multiple priorities, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.
• A current NSW practising certificate or from another Australian jurisdiction.
