ABOUT THE ROLE

This is a permanent role with a 9-day fortnight working arrangement at our Boddington mine site, located a short drive from Boddington, Pinjarra, and Mandurah.

Please note that there is no onsite camp.

The Specialist Safety role in Safety & Training focuses on providing leadership, expertise, and direction to ensure safety and well-being, supporting the execution of South32's strategy and stakeholder prosperity.

ACCOUNTABILITIES

Other key responsibilities include, but aren't limited to:

  • Providing technical safety support to Boddington operations, including risk assessments and verification of control effectiveness
  • Leading high-quality event and hazard investigations
  • Supporting health and safety improvement projects
  • Managing fatality risk processes, including reviews and control upgrades
  • Coaching in first-line assurance activities with operational teams to close safety gaps

ABOUT YOU

You will have experience and demonstrate capability in:

  • Leading, guiding, and influencing safety practices
  • Knowledge of key safety management concepts and practices
  • Influencing and gaining trust from operational leadership
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Experience in executing technical safety work
  • A positive, proactive attitude and ability to work autonomously and in teams
  • Commitment to safety engagement and collaboration

Qualifications

  • Certificate IV / Diploma in Work Health & Safety or related industry experience
  • Knowledge of safety risk management concepts and practices
  • Flexibility to adapt to changing needs
