About The Position

The Senior Human Resources Advisor will work closely with Council leaders to provide strategic advice and guidance on industrial and employment matters, in line with the Local Government Award and Act. This position will assist in the development and delivery of human resource policies, procedures, projects, and program improvements that support the delivery of Council's Workforce Management Plan and Operational Plan.

About The Position

The Senior Human Resources Advisor will work closely with Council leaders to provide strategic advice and guidance on industrial and employment matters, in line with the Local Government Award and Act. This position will assist in the development and delivery of human resource policies, procedures, projects, and program improvements that support the delivery of Council's Workforce Management Plan and Operational Plan.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide advice, coaching, and early intervention on staff concerns, ensuring compliance with the Local Government Award, the Local Government Act, and other relevant legislation.
  • Work towards achieving the Workforce Management Plan and project lead initiatives which will increase the efficiency of HR operations and the employee lifecycle.
  • Ensure continuous improvement by regularly reviewing current practices and providing management with recommendations based on analysis, interpretation, and HR industry trends and best practice.
  • Project lead workplace change processes and work alongside management to ensure processes are in line with the Award.
  • Develop, review, and implement policies, procedures, and other documents that support best practice Human Resource management at Council.
  • Independently undertake and complete HR functions as required, including but not limited to: performance management, recruitment, onboarding, learning and development, Recover at Work, etc.

About You
  • Degree qualifications in Human Resources or similar, with 5 years experience in a Human Resource role.
  • Ability to deal with difficult issues/proven people management/coaching skills.
  • Proven ability negotiating, mediating and problem solving skills.
  • Demonstrated oral and written communication skills.
  • Demonstrated experience and/or capability to deliver the Job Specific Key Accountabilities (outlined in the Position Description).
  • Demonstrated Advanced key capabilities as defined in the Key Capabilities Table (outlined in the Position Description).

  • This is a permanent role that offers flexibility, with a minimum of 28 hours per week and the option to work full-time (35 hours).
  • Hourly Rate from $51.2923 to $57.6080 per hour (depending on qualifications, skills and experience) plus 12% superannuation
