A growing FinTech in the consumer lending space is seeking a hands-on Risk & Compliance Officer to lead and evolve its risk and compliance frameworks. This is a foundational role with the opportunity to shape the risk culture and governance structures from the ground up.
The Opportunity
You'll work closely with the CEO and Board to define the organisation's risk appetite and ensure ongoing compliance with all regulatory obligations, including NCCP, RG209 and Privacy requirements. The role will suit someone who is commercially minded, proactive, and capable of building a risk function in a fast-paced, scaling environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, maintain, and oversee risk and compliance frameworks across credit, operational, conduct, data/privacy, and reputational risk
- Work with senior leadership to identify, assess and manage business risks
- Monitor compliance with regulatory requirements and internal policies
- Prepare and present regular risk reports to the CEO and Board
- Promote a proactive, risk-aware culture across the business
- Build and lead a high-performing risk and compliance team
- Serve as a trusted advisor on regulatory and governance matters

- Strong risk and compliance experience in financial services, ideally consumer lending
- Proven leadership skills and a pragmatic, commercial approach to managing risk
- Solid understanding of relevant regulations including NCCP and RG209
- Experience designing and implementing risk management frameworks from scratch
- Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills
- Tertiary qualifications and/or industry certifications preferred
- Experience in a FinTech start-up or scale-up is highly desirable
- Previous experience as a Responsible Manager under an ACL is a bonus
