About the role

Join our dynamic team as a Maintenance Fitter, where you will play a pivotal in maintaining the efficiency and functionality of our industrial machinery. In this role, you will be responsible for conducting routine and preventive maintenance, diagnosing and repairing a variety of mechanical equipment, and collaborating with production and engineering teams to enhance operational standards. This position demands a blend of mechanical skills, problem-solving abilities, and a strong commitment to safety and quality. We are currently hiring for this critical position at our Oakey branch, where you will be directly reporting to the Production Manager.

Your key responsibilities:

• Conduct both scheduled and unscheduled maintenance on a variety of mechanical equipment, including pumps, motors, conveyors, compressors, and other industrial machinery.
• Efficiently identify and troubleshoot mechanical issues using diagnostic tools and techniques.
• Perform effective repairs to restore and maintain equipment operational status.
• Actively participate in planned preventive maintenance activities, ensuring equipment is kept in optimal condition.
• Adhere to and enforce all safety guidelines and protocols during maintenance tasks, while identifying potential safety hazards.
• Maintain accurate and comprehensive records of maintenance activities, including equipment logs, repair reports, and spare parts inventory.
• Collaborate with engineering, production teams, and other maintenance staff to coordinate maintenance activities and suggest improvements for equipment reliability and efficiency.
• Ensure the availability of critical spare parts and maintain an organized inventory.
• Provide technical support to production operators in equipment operation and troubleshooting.
• Comply with relevant industry regulations, standards, and best practices in maintenance and safety.

What we're looking for:

• Trade qualification in mechanical fitting or boiler making.
• Experience in a maintenance fitter role, preferably within the feed, agriculture, or fast-moving consumer goods (FMCG) sector.
• Experience as a forklift operator and possess a current forklift license.
• Boiler Attendance Ticket or the ability to obtain one.
• Confined Space Entry and Working at Heights licenses (highly desirable).
• Capable of performing physically demanding tasks.
• Strong understanding of mechanical systems, hydraulics, pneumatics, and industrial equipment.
• Proficient in analyzing and diagnosing mechanical issues and implementing solutions.
• Strong commitment to safety protocols and fostering a safety-first culture.
