Overview

Senior Clinician - Youth Access Team at The Royal Melbourne Hospital (Parkville Youth Mental Health and Wellbeing Service, PYMHWS). Permanent ongoing, full-time 1.0 EFT. Location: Footscray. The role provides triage, assessment, crisis intervention and clinical treatment to young people with complex mental ill health.

Responsibilities
  • Provide triage, assessment, crisis intervention and clinical treatment to young people with complex mental ill health.
  • Provide senior clinician leadership and supervision to YAT staff; mentor team; participate in daily clinical operations; support risk management and care planning.
  • Collaborate with the YAT Manager, Team Leaders and Consultant Psychiatrists to deliver evidence-based, youth-focused care; support clinical leadership and overnight clinical activities as needed.
  • Contribute to safe, person-centred care, including safety planning and suicide prevention; participate in clinical handovers and team huddles.
  • Work a rotating roster including daytime, evening and weekend shifts; coordinate referrals to longer-term services as required.
  • Engage with young people, families and significant others with psychoeducation within an early intervention framework.
Qualifications and Experience
  • Eligible disciplines: RPN Grade 4 / Occupational Therapist, Social Worker and Psychologist Grade 3; relevant registration and qualifications.
  • Minimum 5 years' experience in tertiary mental health; demonstrated ability to function autonomously and collaboratively with clinical and organisational leaders.
  • Excellent communication, organisation and leadership skills; motivated by youth-focused, inclusive and recovery-oriented care.

About The Role

The Senior Mental Health Clinician provides clinical care to young people referred for tertiary mental health support, supports daily operations, mentors YAT staff and provides clinical supervision to enhance knowledge and practice.
