The Parkville Youth Mental Health and Wellbeing Service (PYMHWS) provides dedicated mental health care to young people aged 12-25 in Melbourne's north and west, along with their families, carers, supporters and kin. PYMHWS is Victoria's first standalone public mental health service built exclusively around young people's needs, operating at sites across Melbourne's north and west. The Opportunity

Join Orygen Recovery's Youth Prevention and Recovery Care (YPARC), a 20-bed sub-acute residential program supporting young people aged 16–25. We provide short-term, recovery-focused care for those stepping up to avoid hospital admission or stepping down to transition back to the community.

The Senior Family Work Clinician is a specialist senior role responsible for promoting and implementing family inclusive practice within Orygen's Youth Prevention & Recovery Care (YPARC).

Our service is made up of compassionate, curious, and committed people. As we continue to grow, we are looking for an experienced, collaborative, and trauma informed Senior Family Clinician to deliver high-quality, evidence-based family interventions, provide clinical leadership, and strengthen the capacity of staff and families to support recovery.

What You'll Do
  • Provide clinical leadership, support, and supervision, and perform primary and secondary consultations to the multidisciplinary team regarding family-inclusive practice principles
  • Provide family-focused interventions, including single session family consultations
  • Develop and support a framework for family engagement in the Orygen Recovery Program
  • Provide clinical leadership, management, training and supervision to a multidisciplinary team
  • Support the delivery of evidence-based interventions across Orygen Recovery, in collaboration with other senior staff
  • Work from an inclusive and sensitive practice with young people and their families/carers from Aboriginal/Torres Strait Islander, CALD and LGBTQIA backgrounds
About You
  • A Mental Health Clinician experienced in developing and delivering group programs for families/carers, including family support groups
  • Demonstrated experience and ability to determine and plan for a young person's recovery using shared decision-making
  • Eligible disciplines: RPN Grade 4 / Occupational Therapist, Social Worker and Psychologist Grade 3, with postgraduate qualification in Family/Systems Therapy
  • Relevant registration and qualifications (see position description for details)
  • Minimum 5 years' experience in tertiary and/or youth mental health and a demonstrated ability to lead a clinical team, supervise mental health clinicians, and function autonomously and collaboratively with other clinical and organisational leaders
  • Excellent communication, organisation, and leadership skills
  • Motivated by youth-focused, inclusive, and recovery-oriented care
  • Knowledge of and training in family-based approaches to mental health including the Single Session Family Consultation Framework
  • Clinical experience and skills in engaging and working collaboratively with young people and families in a mental health setting
