Join our Allied Health Team where collaboration, growth and inclusion thrive. We are seeking a Grade 1 Occupational Therapist to work alongside the multi-disciplinary team to provide clinical occupational therapy services to clients/patients using evidence based clinical practice skills, ensuring that practice is in accordance with Occupational Therapy Australia Code of Ethics and SJGHC policies and guidelines.

St John of God Bunbury offers a broad range of Occupational Therapy (OT) services to our inpatients such as acute medical care, palliative care and pre & post-surgical care. Our OT team also offers the opportunity to expand into specialist OT outpatient services such as OT Home Visting, clinical Pilates and pain management.

As a Grade 1 Occupational Therapist, you will have access to strong mentoring, peer support and pathways for professional development.

We offer family friendly shift times on Monday to Friday from 8am to 4pm.

The Position
  • Provide direct occupational therapy services to clients/patients and or carers on an individual or group level for both inpatients and outpatients. Completion of comprehensive patient assessment (e.g. assessment of personal care, domestic and community ADLs, assessment of the home environment, cognitive and functional physical assessment as required).
  • Provision of a comprehensive treatment intervention and appropriate progression treatment to match functional goals.
  • Coordinate the provision of special aids and equipment requirements of patients if required to assist with functioning
  • Provide consultation and support to medical, nursing, catering and allied health professionals within the Division as appropriate.
  • Responsible for completing appropriate administrative duties arising from each session instructed. This requires liaison with the office administration team, reporting of statistical data and completion of clinical documentation.
  • Participate in multidisciplinary activities e.g. team meetings, ward rounds, or case conferences, as required.
  • Participate in the delivery of education programmes within the service and for Divisional caregivers.
  • Participate in other activities as assigned.
  • Supervise, instruct and assess students in approved clinical teaching programs in liaison with the Supervisor/Manager.

You will hold a tertiary qualification in Occupational Therapy and registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA).

To succeed you will have demonstrated knowledge and skills in assessment, treatment and evaluation within Occupational Therapy practice. You will have effective interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills (including the ability to communicate using technology).

A current C Class Drivers' Licence is essential.
