Civil Engineer
Location: Remote (must be based in, or willing to relocate to, the Cleveland, Ohio area)
About Civilocity
Civilocity is a rapidly growing design services provider specializing in private land development projects across the United States. We are especially active in Northeast Ohio, where we are trusted by a growing roster of clients and have a robust pipeline of projects—ranging from residential subdivisions and multi-family to commercial, industrial, and retail development. Our team is dedicated to delivering high-quality work quickly and efficiently using a collaborative, tech-forward approach.
Why This Role?
This is a unique opportunity for an ambitious engineer/project manager to become the local face of Civilocity in Northeast Ohio. You'll step into a region where we already have significant momentum and a steady flow of project work, but where you'll have the chance to make a real impact—serving clients directly, shaping project outcomes, and helping us deepen our roots in the local market. For the right person, this role offers long-term growth potential and the chance to play a defining role in Civilocity's continued expansion in Ohio.
The Opportunity
We're seeking a talented, driven, and experienced Civil Engineer with project management and business development experience to join our team as the lead for Northeast Ohio. In this role, you'll take ownership of projects from preliminary design through completion, work closely with clients and stakeholders, and help shape the next phase of Civilocity's growth in Ohio. This is a remote position, but requires someone who is already based in the Cleveland area or willing to relocate.
What You'll Do:
- Lead and manage private land development projects (single-family and multi-family subdivisions, commercial, industrial, retail, etc.) from concept through completion.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for clients and public agencies in the Northeast Ohio region.
- Oversee design, permitting, and delivery of site plans, grading, drainage, utilities, and related infrastructure.
- Collaborate with our international production team to ensure deliverables meet high standards of quality and efficiency.
- Leverage your knowledge of local regulations, standards, and best practices to drive successful project outcomes.
- Mentor junior staff and support their professional growth.
- Participate in business development efforts, leveraging your local network and relationships with land developers, architects, or other potential clients.
What We're Looking For:
- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or related field.
- Professional Engineer (PE) license in Ohio (or ability to obtain licensure promptly).
- 7+ years of experience in private land development (residential subdivisions, commercial/multi-family projects, etc.).
- Expert proficiency in AutoCAD Civil 3D is required.
- Experience with HydroCAD and other stormwater modeling software is highly preferred.
- Demonstrated ability to independently manage projects and interface with clients, consultants, and public agencies.
- Strong working knowledge of site design, permitting processes, and local development codes.
- Excellent communication skills and a proactive, client-service mindset.
- Self-motivated and comfortable in a remote, tech-forward environment.
- Established relationships with local land developers, architects, or real estate professionals
- Proven business development experience and desire to help grow Civilocity's Ohio presence
Why Civilocity?
- Work remotely with a flexible schedule, while staying connected to local projects and clients.
- Step into a region with significant project momentum and the potential to help shape our future in Ohio.
- Join a collaborative, entrepreneurial team where your voice matters.
- Access to a deep bench of national design talent and technical resources.
- Competitive compensation and potential for advancement as we expand in Ohio and beyond.
