Job Overview

The Site/Civil Engineering Team Lead is responsible for leading the planning and execution of land development design projects. Key responsibilities include directing plan production, reviewing design calculations, promoting team growth, and collaborating with project managers to ensure project objectives are met.

  • Work alongside project managers to lead the design process
  • Directs and delegates execution of quality project deliverables among technical team members
  • Collaborate with cross-functional team members to ensure project objectives (scope, schedule, budget, quality, deliverables) are met in accordance with established metrics
  • Provide technical expertise in site/civil design, hydrology/hydraulics, erosion and sedimentation control, and stormwater management
  • Utilize AutoCAD Civil 3D to develop concept plans and grading plans
  • Coordinate permitting with local municipalities
  • Work with project management team to identify challenges and develop solutions
  • Establishes employee performance goals, provides regular feedback and works with discipline leaders and assigned technical team members to achieve individual and sector goals
  • Effectively resolves conflict within team by initiating and facilitating communication
  • Mentors and coaches direct reports
  • Communicates issues affecting phase/task or project schedule, budget or quality and escalates unresolved issues to project manager and/or discipline leader

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in civil engineering or related field
  • 10+ years professional Site/Civil Design experience
  • Professional Engineer (P.E.) certification required
  • Previous people management experience, including establishing goals with staff, performance management and reviews, conflict resolution, and desire to lead
  • Proven experience with codes and regulations, interpreting plans, designing storm water facilities, site grading and local and state permitting for land disturbance
  • Civil 3D experience
  • Demonstrated ability to organize and manage multiple tasks
  • Ability to provide excellent client service
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in a dynamic environment
  • Strong organizational, time management, attention to detail and analytical skills
  • Ability to work independently as well as in a team environment; offer constructive feedback and direction to support goals
