About The OpportunityThis four year heavy vehicle mechanic apprenticeship offers a pathway to a nationally recognised trade qualification, commencing January 2026 on a term contract, full-time basis. During the first three years you will receive on-the-job training; the fourth year provides practical experience. Ideal candidates will undertake a structured learning journey and attend and successfully complete a Certificate III in Heavy Commercial Vehicle Mechanical Technology, while being supported by qualified tradespeople. Salaries and conditions of employment are in accordance with the Blacktown City Council Enterprise Agreement.
Who Can Apply- Applicants must be minimum 15 years of age or older
- No longer at school or home-schooled
- If currently enrolled in school or home-schooled, must:
- Have completed year 9 or equivalent
- Provide written approval to proceed from a school principal or NSW Education Standards Authority (NESA) or an authorised person acting in lieu of a school principal
- No experience required
- Ability to obtain a class C driver's licence when able to
- Applicants must be Australian citizens or be eligible to work in Australia (evidence required)
- Blacktown City Council and 1300apprentice are partnering to conduct the initial recruitment process
- Applications must be submitted online through Council's recruitment system
- The selection process includes an interview, aptitude test and medical examination
