We are primarily seeking a Payments Test Engineer to work with our Payments client.

Location: Sydney only

Job Title: Payments Test Engineer (STIP/AS2805)

Job Description:

We are seeking an experienced Payments Test Engineer to design, develop, and execute comprehensive test strategies for payment systems, with a focus on STIP transactions, AS2805 message validation, and performance under high transaction volumes.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design and execute functional, integration, regression, performance, and negative tests for payment transaction flows.
  • Develop test scenarios for issuer downtime, fallback mechanisms, and authorization paths.
  • Validate AS2805 message flows across acquirer, issuer, and network layers.
  • Utilize simulators like PaySim, FIME, and tools such as JMeter, Gatling, or LoadRunner for load and stress testing.
  • Conduct analysis of transaction logs, payment switch behavior (e.g., Base24, Connex, Postilion), and database records.
  • Ensure compliance with PCI-DSS, EMVCo, encryption, tokenization, and fraud monitoring standards.
  • Automate test cases using tools such as Cypress, Selenium, Playwright, Appium, or Jest.
  • Collaborate with developers, BAs, vendors, and QA teams to ensure end-to-end test coverage.
  • Contribute to test strategies, defect triage, risk assessments, and process improvements.
Qualifications & Requirements
  • 7+ years of software testing experience, with 2+ years in the payments domain.
  • Hands-on experience with AS2805 messaging and EFTPOS payment networks.
  • Knowledge of STIP, fallback processing, and payment authorization flows.
  • Strong analytical skills for troubleshooting transaction failures and message mismatches.
  • Familiarity with switch platforms like Base24, Connex, or Postilion.
  • Understanding of PCI-DSS, EMVCo, and fraud detection mechanisms.
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering or equivalent practical experience.
  • Desirable: Experience at CBA, Bankwest, or similar financial institutions with STIP/switch testing background.
