An opportunity exists for a qualified Cook to join our well-established and highly reputable Catering Department at Newcastle Private Hospital on a casual basis.

Your work as a Cook will contribute to our patients' experience with us by providing exceptional meals during their stay, while being responsible for the cold larder section.

We offer a supportive atmosphere, work-life balance, and no late nights

The successful applicants will be available for a variety of shifts across a 7-day week and should have prior experience in healthcare, aged care food services, or in a high-volume hotel environment.

About us

Join our team of surgeons, specialist doctors, dedicated nurses, and allied health professionals at Newcastle Private Hospital. We are an 11 theatre, 189-bed acute private hospital co-located on the John Hunter Campus at Rankin Park.

Newcastle Private provides specialty care for individuals and their families or carers across our same-day and inpatient facilities.

As a Cook, your responsibilities will include:

  • Food preparation
  • Cooking patient meals
  • Preparing meals for patients with dietary restrictions, allergens, and texture modifications
  • Ordering food supplies
  • Supervising kitchen staff
  • Delivering excellent customer service to staff, clients, and patients
  • Maintaining Food Safety standards

Selection Criteria:

  • Qualification as a Chef from a recognized training provider
  • Previous experience in a hospital, aged care, or healthcare environment
  • Certificate in Safe Food Handling
  • Availability for weekday and weekend work
  • Good communication and time management skills
  • Attention to detail and reliability
  • Ability to work independently and within a team
