This opportunity offers hands-on conservation work in New Zealand's unique forests, focusing on protecting endangered species like the kiwi bird and the giant kauri snail. Volunteers will participate in activities such as creating access trails, pest control, native tree planting, and monitoring wildlife, contributing to ecological restoration and sustainability efforts.
Details:
- Location: Kauri Coast, Northland, New Zealand
- Duration: Minimum 8 weeks
- Cost: $2900 USD for the first two weeks + $330 per additional week
- Includes: Food, accommodation, pre-departure and in-country support, orientation, project activities
- Excludes: Flights, travel insurance, personal expenses, visas, vaccinations

Introduction:
This sanctuary is a non-profit organization in the cloud-forests of Tutamoe Peak, Northland, New Zealand, dedicated to protecting native wildlife and restoring forest ecosystems. It operates sustainably and off-grid, utilizing recycled materials. In partnership with the Department of Conservation, volunteers help monitor and protect native species, build trails, control pests, and restore habitats, with opportunities for leadership and organizational training.
