Forest Conservation Specialist

This role offers hands-on conservation work in New Zealand's unique forests, focusing on protecting endangered species like the kiwi bird and the giant kauri snail. You will participate in activities such as creating access trails, pest control, native tree planting, and monitoring wildlife, contributing to ecological restoration and sustainability efforts.

Responsibilities:

  • Participate in forest conservation activities such as trail creation, pest control, and native tree planting
  • Monitor wildlife populations and contribute to data analysis for ecological restoration and sustainability efforts
  • Collaborate with staff and volunteers to achieve project goals and develop leadership skills
  • Learn about sustainable living and off-grid practices by working in a remote setting
  • Gain knowledge about conservation biology and ecology through hands-on experience

Requirements:

  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Flexibility and adaptability in a dynamic conservation environment
  • Basic knowledge of conservation biology and ecology
