We are seeking motivated individuals to join our team as Driver Assistants working across multiple site locations in Bowen, Coppabella, Sarina & Nebo. These casual roles provide an excellent entry point into the rail industry, even if you have no prior experience.

About the Role

As a Casual Locomotive Driver Assistant, you'll play a critical role in ensuring the safe and efficient operation of rail services. You'll work closely with Train Crew, Operational Staff, Maintenance and Terminal teams, as well as Network Control, in a fast-paced and collaborative environment. This role offers valuable hands-on experience, where you'll assist in a variety of rail operational tasks while being supported by a dedicated team.

Your Training Journey

  • Initial paid classroom & practical training (38 hours per week).
  • Assist in various rail operational tasks, gaining hands-on experience in a supportive environment.
  • Training school will be held in Mackay (Accommodation will be provided during classroom training).

The ideal candidate will be:

  • Adaptable: Comfortable handling changing environments and challenges.
  • Reliable: Dependable in attendance, safety, and teamwork.
  • Eager to Learn: Keen to develop new skills in the rail industry.
  • Local: Residing in or near Bowen.

Requirements

  • Ability to pass a CAT 1 Rail Medical and fitness assessment.
  • Current full Class C or higher Driver's Licence (no restrictions).
  • Current First Aid Certificate (or willingness to obtain).
  • Valid National Police Clearance (with no court outcomes).
  • Basic computer skills.
  • Strong literacy and numeracy skills to complete written assessments.
