ABOUT THE ROLE
This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced Health, Safety and Environment professional to step into a pivotal leadership role. Reporting into a down-to-earth leader, you will drive a proactive safety culture and implement initiatives to reduce workplace injuries across the terminal.
In this role, you will lead the development of safety strategies, oversee risk management processes, support operational leaders, and ensure compliance with WHS legislation and industry standards. You will play a hands-on role in facilitating workshops, analysing incident trends, and leading investigations, while also influencing long-term strategic safety outcomes for the business.
DUTIES
- Lead from the front, driving initiatives that create a safer, more engaged workplace
- Partner closely with operational and engineering leaders to embed safety into day-to-day decision making
- Champion cultural change programs that shift behaviours and attitudes towards proactive safety
- Take ownership of incident investigations, ensuring learnings translate into stronger systems and safer outcomes
- Build capability by coaching leaders and teams on best practice safety approaches
- Track performance against key safety indicators, using data and insights to inform improvement strategies
- Stay across industry trends and legislative updates, bringing fresh ideas to keep the business at the forefront of safety excellence
- Safety management experience within a heavy industry
- Proven ability to drive cultural change within a unionised environment
- Strong knowledge of WHS legislation, standards, and codes of practice
- Demonstrated experience in incident management and ICAM investigations
- Excellent interpersonal and stakeholder engagement skills
- Degree in Safety, HR, or related discipline
