About the Role :

The Midwifery Director plays a pivotal role in leading and shaping midwifery services across the Local Health Network. Responsibilities include developing, implementing, and evaluating strategic directions, operational plans, and policies that support excellence in midwifery practice. The role provides expert advice on workforce and professional matters, delivering strategic leadership to drive innovation, quality improvement, and positive change. The Director holds accountability for governance, practice standards, effective use of systems, fostering healthy work environments, and ensuring cost-effective, high-quality health services.

About You :

  • Registered or eligible for registration as a Midwife with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia, holding or eligible for a current practicing certificate.
  • At least 5 years post-registration experience as a Registered Midwife.
  • Leadership or management experience in healthcare.
  • Experience managing and leading complex projects.
  • Experience guiding services or organizations through extensive change.
  • Knowledge of contemporary management practices in healthcare.
  • Experience leading quality improvement initiatives.
  • Ability to manage large multidisciplinary teams.
  • Proficiency with computer software such as Microsoft Office Suite.
